I have been a psychotherapist in San Francisco for over twenty years...and have helped many people change the ways that they experience themselves and the world around them. Psychotherapy is a highly effective process that absolutely works! This site contains information about the ways that I approach therapy and about my practice. MY APPROACH
Good therapy is an interplay between art and science. In a direct and collaborative way, I blend current research and evidence based practices with compassion and creativity. I draw on several theoretical orientations and on many years of clinical experience working with individuals and couples, as well as supervising and training other psychotherapists.
I believe that our histories profoundly influence how we experience ourselves, how we manage our feelings, and the overall quality of our relationships. While this belief fundamentally guides my thinking and informs my treatment approach, I am versed in a variety of techniques, rooted in other traditions, and am comfortable treating a wide range of clinical issues. I use tools from psychodynamic therapies, solution focused and cognitive based therapies, and mindfulness based practices.
My clinical training is extensive and has been gained working with a diverse clientele in several clinical settings. I have a graduate degree in Clinical Psychology, extensive post graduate clinical training, am licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in California, and have been involved with the healing arts for over thirty years.
My work is especially effective in helping people who are functioning at a high level already, but who struggle with issues such as self-doubt, trouble with intimacy, or the inability to fully manifest what they really want.
